Sanjaya voted off American Idol

Thank goodness I say ! Sanjaya Malakar said Wednesday he did it his way on “American Idol” and he’ll take the same approach to a career that he hopes will encompass music, acting, modeling and whatever else comes his way. I personally see no future for him as a singer but do think that modeling would be a good choice for him.

I personally hope that Jordin Sparks wins as she is the most talented of them all at this  point.

B B King hospitalized Jan. 25

Legendary Blues artist B.B. King was hospitalized Thursday for flu-like symptoms and had to cancel two shows in the Texas area but is feeling better today, joking and ready to get back to work. I have always been a big fan of his and hope he gets well and he and Lucille get back on the road soon.

RIP Godfather of Soul

james brownJames Brown passed away Christmas day of heart failure 2 days after being admitted to the hospital for pneumonia. He also had diabetes and prostrate cancer which was in remission. He was 73 years old. Without his trend setting music there would not have been any R & B, disco, rap, as well as many other genres of music that have been influenced by his works. He will be sorely missed. RIP James Brown.

Troy Gentry charged for improper killing of bear !

Troy Gentry of the popular country band Montgomery Gentry was charged for improper tagging of a bear he recently killed. It seems he purchased this bear named “Cubby” back in 2004 to be hunted with a bow and arrow on a 3 acre private enclosure complete with electric fences. The guilty plea enabled the singer to avoid a trial, due to start this week. He told the court he bought the bear from his local hunting guide, Lee Marvin Greenly. The pair agreed to report the animal was killed in the wild six miles east of Sandstone, Minnesota, instead of inside an electric-fenced, three-acre enclosure on Mr Greenly’s property south of the town.

Gentry’s attorney said he had pleaded guilty “to a simple charge having to do with improper tagging”.

“I did participate in improperly tagging the animal I shot, without realising the seriousness of what I was doing,” said the singer in a statement posted on his official website.

“For that I am truly sorry. This has been a humbling experience for me, and one which I deeply regret.”    montgomery gentry

Altho I dont agree with this type of hunting, it is not much different than the legal way of using dogs brainwashed to track and hunt bears with radio tracking collars where the so called hunters just walk up and shoot them. Either way doesn’t seem fair or much sport to me. I think you should have to do it the old fashioned way, go out and find it yourself, track it yourself and kill it yourself with no dogs or electric fences.Just my two cents after reading this recent article. I like Montgomery Gentry’s music and will continue to be a fan.

Keith Urban enters Rehab, will miss CMA`s

38 yr. old Keith Urban (whose talents I like very much) has entered a U.S. rehab facility to de-tox from alchohol addiction. The Grammy-winner, formerly a cocaine addict, said he “deeply regrets the hurt this has caused Nicole”. (Nicole Kidman (Oscar winning actress) who he recently married in Sidney,Australia) Keith having CMA nominations for entertainer of the year and best vocalist, both of which he won in 2005, best single for Better Life, and song of the year for co-writing Tonight I Wanna Cry, is one of the best new artists to come around in a long time. I admire his ability to play awesome leads on his guitar while singing lead at the same time ! I am looking forward to his newest release “Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing” on November 7. He won a Grammy award earlier this year for best male country vocalist for You’ll Think of Me, and was named best male singer by the Academy of Country Music for the second year running. Knowing this business personally and having experienced addictions myself, I can only wish him the best and say that I for one will miss his presence at the CMA awards this November 6. Just remember that “Rehab is for quitters” !  keith urban

Willie Nelson and the war on drugs !

During a September 18 traffic stop, cops smelled a strong odor of pot emanating from Nelson’s bus. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up about 1-1/2 pounds of pot and a bag of mushrooms. The drugs were later photographed on the hood of a police cruiser. Nelson, 73, and four other bus passengers (ages 75, 59, 54, and 50) were issued misdemeanor drug possession citations and released at the scene. willie nelson
Nelson, 73, has been an advocate for the legalization of marijuana. He became famous in the 1970s as part of the outlaw country movement that included influences from rock, jazz and folk music.

I can see why the law would want to go after people like Willie, after all, everyone knows marijuana makes you lazy, while giving you violent criminal behavior. Just look at Willie. The guy just can’t seem to get anything done. Well except maybe being one of the biggest country stars who ever existed, while still touring at his old age. But I mean look how criminal and violent he is, with the joints and all.

Give me a break, the war on drugs is and always has been a waste of time and money not to mention that large %`s of our prisons are filled with non-violent drug offenders and then there are the scores of very sick people who could get much needed relief and appetite from marijuana, but the govt. would rather spend billions on fighting it. I say leave Willie alone he is old enough to do what he wants!

Willie Nelson’s public statement regarding being caught with a bag of
Marijuana earlier this week:
“It’s a good thing I had a bag of Marijuana, instead of a bag of spinach…
I’d be dead by now.”

I know you all recieve those fwd`d e-mails everyday with all the warnings, hoaxes, and what have you, but I thought this one was worthy of posting here. Enjoy:

A little humor…

I must send my thanks to whoever sent me the one about rat poop in the
glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet towel with every
envelope that needs sealing.

Also, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same
reason.

I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny
Brown) who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time. (more…)

Bob Dylan back in spotlight

Bob Dylan‘s new album, Modern Times, claims the top spot on this week’s SoundScan sales charts, making it his first #1 album since 1976’s Desire. It is also his best sales week and highest-charting record since Nielsen SoundScan started keeping track of such numbers in 1991, according to Billboard. Modern Times sold approximately 192,000 copies in its first week on-sale in the States and debuted in the top three in many other countries around the world. This makes him the oldest person to ever release a disc at #1 !bob dylan

Bob Dylan has been recording since the year I was born (1962) proof seen here with such hits as “Blowin` in The Wind”, “Corrina Corrina”, “Delia”, “House of the risin’ Sun”, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”, “Lay Lady Lay”, “Little Maggie”, “Maggie’s Farm”, “Mr. Tambourine Man”, “Precious Memories”,”Sittin’ on Top of The World”, just to name a very few. See complete collection here. Those songs alone make him a legend in his own time and he has my respect and I am glad to see him back in the spotlight again, perhaps he can one day record from the grave like a few other of my favorite legends. Way to go Bob !
